Hi HealthierHer,
Let’s talk about something we don’t often say out loud… PCOS and hair loss.
If you're anything like me, you’ve probably Googled “how to stop hair fall with PCOS” more times than you’d like to admit. I know how heartbreaking it feels to comb your hair and see a handful of strands. That silent anxiety when you touch your edges, wondering if they’re thinner than yesterday. Girl, I’ve been there.
Hair loss was one of the symptoms that really hit my confidence. It’s more than just vanity, it’s your crown, your identity. And when it starts to thin or fall out, especially with PCOS, it can feel like you’re losing a part of yourself. I even had to scrap my hair twice because i didn't like what i was seeing.
But today, I want to share what helped me. Not a miracle cure, but what made me feel better, both physically and emotionally.
💚 1. Nutrition & Supplements
I had to rethink how I was eating. I added more zinc-rich foods (pumpkin seeds, lentils), started taking biotin consistently, and included omega-3 supplements. Vitamin D and iron were game changers for me after a blood test showed I was low in both. A balanced plate and a good multivitamin were my starting point.
💚 2. Scalp Massage with Natural Oils
Every week, I massage my scalp using a mix of rosemary oil, black seed oil, and peppermint oil. It’s relaxing, helps blood circulation, and I honestly believe it strengthened my roots. I use a dropper and gently massage it in at night before bed. I also put a mixture of Rosemary oil, clove liquid and black seed oil into a small spray bottle and spray them on my scalp especially when I am on cornrow.
💚 3. Spearmint Tea
I started drinking 1–2 cups of spearmint tea daily. It helped reduce androgen levels (those pesky hormones responsible for hair thinning), and within a few months, I saw a difference not just in hair, but also in skin.
💚 4. Less Stress, More Rest
Easier said than done, right? But I realized that constant stress was wreaking havoc on my hormones. I started doing morning walks, journaling, and even dancing in my room with music on blast. Anything to shake off the pressure.
💚 5. Changing My Mindset
This one was the hardest. I had to remind myself I’m more than my hair. I’m worthy, beautiful, and resilient. PCOS may affect how we look, but it will never define who we are. Confidence came from care not comparison.
If you’re going through this too, I want you to know: you’re not alone. Be patient with your body, give it love, and trust the journey.
Please leave a comment or share what has helped you! Let’s help each other grow inside and out. 💕
Love,
Healthier Her
